Geotourism

The island possesses rich geodiversity and a geological heritage of high scientific, educational and tourist interest. From the various phenomena and volcanic landscapes, the following are highlighted: the Caldeira, the central volcanic building on the island, Monte da Guia or Morro do Castelo Branco, however, the ex-libris of Faial is the most recent volcano of the archipelago – the Capelinhos Volcano .
