The permanent exhibition of Porto Pim Whaling Station consists of almost all its original machinery. In the factory, we can see the rooms where the various stages of processing of the whole sperm whale took place, obtaining oil from the fat, as well as meal from the ground meat, bones and blood, which were in great demand until the 1960s. There is, in addition, a room where you can learn about the morphology and behaviour of the sperm whale, which contains a real skeleton of a female specimen. The premises were recently renovated and reopened to the public in October 2018.
