One of the most symbolic architectural elements of Horta.
The clock tower was built between the year 1700 and 1720, along the southern façade of the former parish church, which was later destroyed by a lightning bolt. The first mechanism of this unique clock dates back to 1747.
Adjacent to Jardim Florêncio Terra, the Clock Tower offers an exceptional panoramic view over the city and to the so-called “triangle” islands (Faial, Pico and São Jorge).
